Grotte di Collbató

Collbató, a municipality in the Baix Llobregat, brings together 58 inventoried cavities: 38 caves and 20 pits. The group totals 2467 metres of passage and reaches a maximum depth of 148 metres. The dominant lithology is conglomerate, present in 57 of the cavities, while limestone appears in 1.

Among the most notable cavities are the Coves del Salnitre, with 958 metres of passage and a vertical extent of 42.7 metres (-19.5/+23.2), rich in history and speleothems. The Pou de Costa Dreta, with a vertical extent of 148 metres, includes the Via Directa, the Via Transversal and the Via Gràcia. Other notable cavities are the Cova Freda, 232 metres long, known since time immemorial, and the Avenc Ventós, 21 metres deep, discovered and explored in 1963 by the Grup d'Espeleologia de Badalona.

The territory also includes the Pou Petit del Torrent Fondo, 35 metres deep, with three shafts of 9, 13 and 10 metres, and the Pou de la Sajolida, 29 metres deep, with a final crawlway cleared in the summer of 2009. The Cova del Pont, 67 metres long, is a chaotic cave in the torrent del Pont formed by large collapse blocks with three interconnected levels.
