The Pla del Bages is a unit of the Depressió Central with 35 recorded cavities, of which 32 are caves and 3 are pits. Together they total 385 m of length and reach a maximum depth of 10 m.
The terrain is formed mainly by sandstone, accompanied by conglomerates, and includes one gypsum cave. Among the cavities most notable for length are the Escletxes del Molí de Boixeda, at 62 m, and the Avenc de la Vinya d'en Tomàs, at 38 m; the latter is also the deepest after the Escletxes del Molí de Boixeda, with 6 m of depth.
