Caves of Torà

In the municipality of Torà, in the comarca of the Solsonès, 4 cavities have been catalogued: 3 pits and 1 cave. Together they total 185 metres of passage and reach a maximum depth of 40 metres. The lithologies present are gypsum, in 3 cases, and sandstones, in 1.

The most notable cavity is Avenc d'Enconills, with 128 metres of passage and 40 metres of depth; explored in 1968, it begins with a first inclined shaft of -11 metres and galleries that end at -40 metres. It is followed by Forat de la Fura, with 32 metres of passage and 14 metres of drop, with two entrances and lower galleries; Forat de la Coma d'en Bepo, with 20 metres of passage and 11 metres of depth, explored for the first time in 1980 by M. Marcelino and J.J. Cirés; and Bauma dels Voliacs, with 5 metres of passage, 20 metres of width and little more than 5 metres of depth, with a maximum central height of 2.44 metres.
