Characteristics

Location

From l'Estartit we head to the junction of carrer de la Pujada de la Primavera with carrer Cantabria; from this point, during the summer months vehicles are not allowed to pass.

From here you must follow the road from l'Estartit to l'Escala, an asphalted stretch; on reaching the end of the climb there is a junction, we cross the road and find a flat area where one parks, from which the path towards Cala Pedrosa starts. After 700 metres we will find a junction; you must follow the path on the left that will take us to the cove. From this cove we will follow the path towards cala Ferriol; after covering some 200 metres of ascent, we reach a small flat area where the path turns towards the West and we have in view la Foradada del golf de la Morisca. You must follow the path 85 metres, where on the right a small trail almost parallel to the main path starts; we will follow it for 75 metres and find the entrance of the cavity on the left and about two metres above the small trail.

Description

Morphology

An entrance of 0.6 x 0.90 metres opens the way to a single shaft 7 metres deep which in its first stretch is a narrow conduit, widening on meeting an oval chamber of 10 by 6 metres with a ceiling about 3 metres high.

History

The first news we have of this small pit is that provided by J. Pallarès, who visited it around 1979 and published it in 1981.

N. Arbusé (2005) mentions it as Pou de la Pedrosa. Not to be confused with the Cau dels Horts de la Pedrosa.

The SIE – CEA during its campaigns in the Montgrí (2007-2009) rediscovers it and cites it as Avenc gran del Solei de la Pedrosa, although the cavity is located on the shady side of the còrrec that descends between els Estufadors and cova de l'Aigua and not on the sunny side.
