Pou de la Portella

Pou de la Portella

Avenc montserratí de 43 m. de fondària a el Bruc

Bruc, El • Anoia95m43m

Montserrat pit 43 m deep at El Bruc, with a first shaft of 27 m and a second of 10 m.

Characteristics

Location

From Can Maçana you must go to coll de Guirló and there take the path to the refugi d'Agulles. Once at the top of the well-known “pas de la Portella”, we will go around the upper Portella without separating from it, and we will reach a descending ramp that after a few metres opens onto the drop facing west. A 10-metre “rappel” is needed to reach the entrance.

Description

Morphology

An elongated entrance perpendicular to the crag that gives access to the first shaft, quite wide and 27 metres deep. Its base is the lower part of a marked ramp that immediately opens onto the next shaft. The second shaft is 10 metres deep, landing on a diaclase that continues for some 16 metres on a gentle slope until it emerges outside through a magnificent diaclase-shaped entrance, about 10 metres high by 1.5 metres wide.

Speleothems

If we climb the aforementioned ramp we reach a small chamber where the only reconstructive forms of the cavity are found.

Progression

A 10-metre “rappel” is needed to reach the entrance.

History

Cavity known to climbers for a long time. In September 1966, Oleguer Escolà (ERE-CEC) visited the lower cave and surveyed it, but did not manage to glimpse the connection with the upper entrance. It was not until 1990 that the guard of the refugi d'Agulles informed members of the Espeleo Club de Gràcia, who carried out the first properly speleological exploration. Shortly afterwards, the same guard informed members of SIRE-UEC Sants and del Prat, who also explored it thinking it was a first.
