Pou de Can Martorell

Petit avenc de 12 m. de fondària a Marganell

Marganell • Bages30m12m

Small pit 12 m deep in Marganell, with a shaft of about 10 m that at its base begins a 14 m gallery.

Characteristics

Location

From the monastery of Santa Cecília a path leads towards Can Martorell, which must be followed as far as the height of a round tank located north of the Carena de la Creu de Ferro. Here the track makes a very sharp bend and goes towards the farmhouse, but at the same bend a path branches off descending towards the torrent de Can Martorell and passing some cultivated fields. Below them and a few metres above the right bank of the torrent lies the pit.

History

There is practically no reference to this cavity, except for its marking on some hiking map. The first news we know of is the exploration and survey carried out by members of GES – CMB around the year 1976, during the work on the third volume of the “Catálogo Espeleológico de la provincia de Barcelona”, which remained unpublished.

In September 1981 it was rediscovered by members of GES – CM Terrassa, who published (1985) a record in their bulletin.
