A wide rock shelter on the N slope of Montserrat, 52 metres wide, known since time immemorial and referenced on maps of the mountain.

Characteristics

Location

We will leave the car at km 4 of the BP-1103 road (between Monistrol de Montserrat and Can Massana) and walk a few metres in the direction of Monistrol, until we find on our right the arrival of a torrent. We will need to get over a wall of about 4 or 5 metres thanks to a rope equipped as a fixed line. We will continue a few metres up the torrent, among the vegetation that makes progress difficult, and soon we will find the cova petita, and a few metres above, the cova dels Lladres.

Description

Morphology

It is a wide rock shelter oriented to the N, 52 metres wide, with an average height of 8 metres and an average depth of 6 or 7 metres. On the E side there is a narrow passage 1 metre from the ground that we can follow for about 2 metres more.

History

Known since time immemorial. Referenced on all maps, both ancient and modern, of the mountain of Montserrat.
