la Font Falsa de Guanta

la Font Falsa de Guanta

Surgència intermitent d'uns 8 m. de fondària a la zona de Guanta (Sentmenat)

Sentmenat • Vallès Occidental23m8m

Intermittent spring about 8 m deep in the Guanta area (Sentmenat), known since time immemorial and studied by the Espeleo Club Sabadell in 1980.

Characteristics

Location

Shortly before km. 31 of the C-1415a road (from Sentmenat to Castellar del Vallès) we will find on the right the entrance to the Can Vinyals residential development, which we will have to cross entirely along the main street until we connect with a dirt track that leads to the house of Guanta (restaurant). We will continue on and shortly we come to a large round water tank, the track turns right and climbs through a residential development (Bosc de Guanta) where from time to time we come across a few houses. From the last house, the track worsens in condition and a little further on it ends. Before the end we will find a metal sign indicating the Font Falsa, we must follow the path and the pit is soon found.

Description

Morphology

The funnel-shaped mouth allows us to descend a 6-metre shaft, preceded by a short gallery in an E direction. We will pass a very crouched squeeze that will lead us to a room 4 metres high. We will then continue along a gallery 1 metre high for about 10 metres, until, as it descends a little, we find a sump.

Hydrology

It is an intermittent spring that collects the waters of the Serrat del Pou, established in a N35E-S35O joint. Below the mouth, in the direction of the nearby track, one can observe a channel very hidden by vegetation, a product of the force of the water when the spring becomes active.

Progression

At present the exploration is somewhat complicated because some “foresighted” person installed at the bottom of the entrance funnel a metal mesh with iron rods and onto which debris from outside has fallen, which hinders and makes dangerous the passage inside.

History

Known since time immemorial by the people of the area, who called it false because the outflow of water occurred intermittently and over long periods of time. The first work on this curious spring is due to members of the Espeleo Club Sabadell who began the studies in 1980.
