Characteristics

Location

Shortly before km 31 of the C-1415a road (from Sentmenat to Castellar del Vallès) we will find on the right the entrance to the Can Vinyals residential development, which we must cross entirely along the main street until we connect with a dirt track that leads to the house of Guanta (restaurant). We will continue forward and shortly we find a large round water tank, the track turns right and climbs through a residential development (Bosc de Guanta) where from time to time we find a few houses. From the last house, the track worsens in condition and a little further on it ends. Before the end we will find a metal sign indicating la Font Falsa de Guanta and about 50 metres later there is an electrical pylon above the track. At its height and about 20 metres to the E, hidden in the middle of the forest and about 15 metres above the track, is the pit.

Description

Morphology

It presents an elongated opening (N-S) of 1.50 x 0.70 metres, forming a 3 metre shaft, where the base widens to 1.20 metres. In a N direction it continues in a gallery until reaching 6 metres total. 2 metres before reaching the bottom of this gallery, which ends in a flared form, there is a hole of 0.50 x 0.30 metres, vertical and at ground level, where it communicates through a 2.5 metre shaft with a lower chamber. This presents a gallery 0.50 metres wide, 0.35 high and 3 metres long in a S direction and where it ends suddenly. At this point the maximum depth is reached at – 6.50 metres.

Hydrology

Seated on a N 12 E joint, highly eroded. It probably had acted as a temporary spring, like its neighbour, la Font Falsa de Guanta, but currently its state is fossil and it only serves as a small infiltration point in times of heavy rain.

History

Explored by members of the SIS of the Centre Excursionista de Terrassa in early September 1984, thanks to information from Jaume Castells, of Castellar del Vallès, who had located it previously.
