Forat de la Lleixa Closa

Cova de 15 m. de recorregut a Montagut i Oix.

Montagut i Oix • Garrotxa15m0

A 15 m-long cave in Montagut i Oix, the remnant of an old collector, explored and surveyed by GE Badalona in September 2014.

Characteristics

Location

From Sadernes, follow the path of Sant Aniol to the Gomarell, where we will continue along the path that climbs back up towards Talaixà.

Approximately 80 metres before reaching the ruins of the Quera, on the right, we will find the mark (FC) in red. We will follow the red paint marks that climb back up through the blocks of the cliff's landslide, until reaching the wooded ledge where we will find the S entrance, of the hole, at the base of the wall.

The coordinates correspond to the S entrance.

Description

Morphology

A gallery in an N direction, and with a gentle slope of 15 metres in length, reaches the opposite side of the cliff; one must proceed with caution since this entrance gives onto the precipice.

The cavity is the remnant of an old collector that has been left exposed by the erosion and retreat of the cliff.

The marks of erosion and corrosion on the ceiling and on the walls are evident. The floor is covered, predominantly, with clayey sediments and clastic blocks, until a few metres before reaching the N entrance, where the bedrock is exposed.

Speleothems

The lithogenic processes are scarce.

History

A cavity already known in the area, but of which there was no knowledge in speleological circles; in September 2014 it is explored and surveyed by GE Badalona.

It is also erroneously known as Feixa Closa (hence the FC marks), and Balma Closa.
