Esquerda de les Plaques del Sol

Petita cavitat a Sansuies (el Montmell).

Montmell, El • Baix Penedès7m5m

Small cavity in Sansuies (el Montmell), on a cliff wall, known to climbers and documented in May 2022 for the Catàleg Espeleològic de Catalunya (2023).

Characteristics

Location

On the TP-2401 road of el Montmell and above km 3.5, take the turn-off towards the Masies de Sansuies urbanisation, go up the main way to the last buildings, from which we take the track that climbs the Fons de la Cativera along its right hydrographic side until it ends and we continue along the path that climbs towards the Puig de la Cova, the path passes beside the turn-off to the Coves del Garriga and then changes to the left side of the Fons, to the north are the cliffs and the access to the climbing routes of the Plaques del Sol where the cavity is found, to access the cavity we will follow the path climbing towards the Puig de la Cova until reaching the ridge (about 70m before reaching the Avenc de la Cativera), from this point we will head SW about 120m, now pathless, along the ridge to the top of the cliffs from which it will be necessary to make an abseil of about 15m to reach the mouth of the cavity.

The climbing route “3 de 9” passes beside the cavity, so it is also possible to access it via that route.
