A tiny ascending cave near el Castellot, in Castellví de la Marca.

Characteristics

Location

Near Km 7 of the BV-2128 road in the municipality of Castellví de la Marca, is the neighbourhood of Les Cases Noves de la Riera, beside the bridge over the Riera de Marmellar. We will take the dirt track parallel to the ravine for about 40 metres, then follow the path that climbs along the left-hand side until we reach the path towards el Castellot after 140 metres. We will follow this path in a W direction for approximately 400 metres, where we will take a new path on the left climbing to el Castellot via the Pas del Clau; the path passes beside the cave, after covering about 120 metres and before reaching the Pas del Clau.

Description

Morphology

Small cave of short length, in which the plan is divided into two levels. In the ceiling of the entrance to the cavity, there are two small parallel chimneys of limited length and volume.

History

Known since ancient times. Mentioned by Joan Virella (1978) in his collection of caves of the Penedès.
