Small cave with a 9 m passage in Castellet i la Gornal, known since time immemorial and excavated by Joan Bellmunt around 1956.

Location

Leave the car at km 12.2 on the road from Castellet to Vilanova i la Geltrú (BV-2115), from where a track (closed to vehicles) sets off; follow it for 110 metres until you find, on the right, a path that runs parallel to the bottom of the Cova Fosca. Follow the path and after about 100 metres you will find the cave at the foot of the cliff that can be seen on your right. There is no path to reach the cave, so you will have to climb a steep slope through the wood and the brambles. The cavity is difficult to locate, as it is quite hidden by the vegetation. It lies about 50 metres to the SE of the coves del Cabra.

Description

Morphology

An entrance 4 metres wide and 2 metres high at most gives access to a single chamber divided by a rock partition; the right-hand part has a depth of 5 metres and the left-hand part 4.6 metres, both with a height that does not exceed one metre.

History

Known since time immemorial. Excavated by Joan Bellmunt around the year 1956. Regarding the curious name of the cave 25, Bellmunt himself explains its origin: "por ser de las visitadas, la que hacía su número".
