Large rock shelter in the Montsant, about 30 m wide and shallow, opened in strata of red sandstones intercalated in the conglomerates, with large fallen blocks. Its reddish colour gives it its name.

Location

From the cartoixa d'Escaladei you must take the camí dels Cartoixans until you reach the collet de l'Hort. From here a path sets off climbing towards the foot of lo Cingle, overcoming a height difference of some 130 m. When the path turns to the left, crossing the barranc de Sant Antoni to go towards the Grau de l'Escletxa, right in front, at the base of the cingle, this well-known rock shelter is found.

Description

Morphology

Large rock shelter about 30 m wide and shallow, opened in some strata of red sandstones intercalated in the conglomerates and with the presence of large fallen blocks. The reddish colour of the whole gives the rock shelter its name.

We do not have a survey, so we do not know the exact dimensions.
