Morera de Montsant, La • Priorat 54m 22m

A 22 m deep shaft in the Scala Dei area (Montsant), with a NE-SW fracture and entrances and exits at both ends.

Characteristics

Location

Starting from Scala Dei, one must climb up to the so-called Grau de l'Escletxa. Once at the top, one must continue towards the Punta del Boter, and shortly after, to the left of the path, some small collapses resembling dolines can be observed. A little further on, the shaft is found on a steep slope that requires taking precautions. Approximate coordinates.

Description

Morphology

A 22 m deep shaft. A fracture running NE-SW with entrances and exits at both ends.

Progression

It can be descended (or ascended) along a slightly inclined ramp covered by clastic materials.

History

Discovered and explored by members of the AAEET de Valls on 13-4-1997, and they explored and surveyed it again themselves on 21-9-1997. During this second visit, they heard a small noise the whole time that went “tic-tic” and whose origin they never found out, but which they used to name the pit.
