Characteristics

Location

From the C-242 road from la Granadella to Bellaguarda, at kilometre 11.720 a track leaves to the right which must be followed. After 330 metres we will leave a turn-off to the right and continue straight for 335 metres, where we will follow the track on the right for 750 metres to the next crossroads; here we will continue to the left for 155 metres, where we will turn off to the left again and continue another 950 metres, where the rock shelter is on the right a few metres below the track. The long-distance footpath GR65-5 passes about 300 metres from the rock shelter.

Description

Morphology

It is 25 metres wide and 6 metres deep. In the very middle of the cavity are the three walls that formed the dwelling. The walls, like all the rock shelters in the area, are made with ashlars of similar sizes, shored up with smaller stones; it should be noted that the angle of the wall, although quite irregular, shows good workmanship.

Hydrology

A sign at the entrance informs us that it is a small dwelling used as a refuge and that formerly there was, right next to it, a water spring that has been lost through lack of maintenance.

History

Known since ancient times in the area.
