Characteristics

Location

From the C-242 road from the Granadella to Bellaguarda, at kilometre 11.720 a track leaves to the right that must be followed. After 330 metres we will leave a turn-off to the right and continue straight for 335 metres, where we will follow the track on the right for 750 metres to the next crossroads; here we will continue to the left for 155 metres, where we will turn off to the left again and continue another 800 metres (100 metres earlier we will have passed above the rock shelter). Here we will leave the vehicle and continue along a path to the right that will take us directly to the rock shelter. The long-distance trail GR65-5 passes about 300 metres from the rock shelter.

Description

Morphology

Rock shelter 40 metres wide by 11 metres deep. A front wall closes the cavity, which is open on one side, something that was done so that agricultural machinery could enter. Inside we find two well-defined rooms, one was intended as the living quarters and the other for livestock. The walls have been restored.

Hydrology

We also see a natural water basin that makes use of the drips from the ceiling.

Other details

In front of the rock shelter a sign explains the use for which it was intended.

History

Known since ancient times in the area.
