Circular-shaped rock shelter at la Granadella, 33 metres wide and 6 metres high, known in the area since long ago.

Characteristics

Location

From the C-242 road between la Granadella and Bellaguarda, at kilometre 11.72, a track leaves to the right that must be followed. After 350 metres we will find on the right a track closed by a chain. Here we will leave the vehicle and continue along the closed track; after 350 metres we will reach the cova del Carnisser. We will continue along the track, which is soon cut off by a block, and after 430 metres we will find some ruins. The rock shelter is located 90 metres to the SE.

Description

Morphology

Rock shelter with a marked circular shape that measures 33 metres wide and 6 metres from the entrance to the front wall, although due to the irregularities of the rock, the actual back is only 2 metres; it is about 6 metres high.

Other details

Due to its characteristics, this cavity could not be used even for storing farming tools.

History

Known in the area since long ago.
