Walled rock shelter at la Granadella, 37 metres wide by 8 metres deep, with stretches of stone wall.

Characteristics

Location

From the C-242 road between la Granadella and Bellaguarda, at kilometre 11.72, a track leaves to the right that must be followed. After 350 metres we will find on the right a track closed by a chain. Here we will leave the vehicle and continue along the closed track; after 350 metres we will reach the cova del Carnisser. We will continue along the track, which is soon cut off by a block, and after 430 metres we will find some ruins. The rock shelter is located 30 metres to the SE.

Description

Morphology

Rock shelter 37 metres wide by 8 metres deep. On both sides of the rock shelter some stretches of stone wall are preserved; some fragment reaches the ceiling of the cavity. On the W side there is the start of a wall that would form a dwelling; possibly on the other side there was another similar one.

History

Known since ancient times in the area.
