Cova dels Ossos

Petita cova de 21 m. de recorregut a la Serra de l'Obac

Mura • Bages21m5m

Small cave with a 21 m passage in the Serra de l'Obac, on the same cliff as the Cova dels Talps but further S.

Characteristics

Location

It is found on the same cliff where the Cova dels Talps is located, but further S.

Following the track located below the Cova dels Talps in a S direction, one reaches the track that further on climbs to the Coll de Tres Creus, just where it stops being asphalted. The track we follow crosses a rather shady torrent and further on turns suddenly to the right; at this bend it continues straight, the cliff forming a wall 60 metres long. The cave is at the start of this long wall, at a showy fissure where holm oaks grow; one must therefore leave the track and climb straight up to the foot of the cliff, where we will observe the mouth of the cavity together with a hole.

Description

Morphology

The cave proper is formed by a high and narrow ascending gallery, which meets a perpendicular gallery.

Progression

A holm oak that grows in the high and narrow ascending gallery helps us climb up through the narrow passage.

History

The cave was known to Mr. Rosendo Boixader, former tenant farmer of the Mata, and he had mentioned it to members of the SIS – CE Terrassa.

In 1985, during one of the many search trips for the Cova dels Talps, they rediscovered this cave and found out that it was the same one that had been cited to them by Mr. Boixader.
