Cova del Moltó

Cova del Moltó

Petita cova al barranc del Moltó (Alcanar)

Alcanar • Montsià5m0

Small cave in the barranc del Moltó (Alcanar), formed by a single shallow vestibule, with no known survey.

Characteristics

Location

On the left slope of the barranc del Moltó, almost at its head. To get there, set out from the Urbanització Camp de Tir, west of the cement factory. Take a straight path towards the mountain range, passing a chain; at the end of the straight stretch the path turns left and at that same bend we can see the remains of an old lime kiln, collapsed and full of rubbish. The path becomes a footpath and climbs southwards towards a col where we find a power pole and a signposted junction. To the right we climb up towards the Moleta. From here you must continue to the head of the barranc del Moltó, where the remains of the corralissa del Ninyo are, and then, with no footpath, go down the barranc, where on its left slope, on a cliff of about 4 m, is the cova del Racó del Ninyo. Following the base of the cliff and after about 50 metres, you come to the cova del Moltó.
