Characteristics

Location

Small rock shelter in the Roca Roja area (the Montsià).

From les Cases d'Alcanar you must find the path that leads to the well-known pre-Iberian site of Sant Jaume – Mas d'en Serrà. From here you must follow the ridge line; to the right is the Moleta. You reach the fork of the Caseta and Povet del Navarro. We follow the lligallo and leave on the right the remains of the Corralissa del lligallo de Roca Roja. We take the path on the right, following the lligallo de Roca Roja, and soon we have a good panoramic view of the Racó del Ninyo, on its northern part. Before leaving the path to go to the Cova del Lligallo de Roca Roja, you must follow the path to the remains of the Caseta de Cabretes and, a little further north, the Cocó de Cabretes. You must go down to the small ravine and along its bed lose metres until the remains of a small house with a cistern, and from there follow old terraces eastwards without losing height until reaching the modest concavity. The place name does it justice, you have to be brave to get there!

Description

Morphology

It is no more than a large rock overhang that has formed a lower space which has been closed off by a dry-stone wall, which must have served as a refuge for shepherds.

No survey is available and therefore we do not know the exact dimensions of the concavity.

History

Certainly known for a long time by those with good knowledge of the Montsià.

Georeferenced on the ICGC map and on other hiking maps.
