Description

Morphology

Consists of a rectilinear gallery 29 metres long, slightly inclined in the final stretch and which remains filled by sediments. Shortly after passing the entrance one can reach an upper gallery about 10 metres long that connects with the lower one at different points.

Speleothems

In this upper gallery a lithogenic process develops that partially masks the conduit and that at one point comes to obstruct the gallery.

History

Cited in the old catalogues (Puig y Larraz; Font i Sagué) although, curiously, the description they give corresponds to the neighbouring Cova del Frare and vice versa. In the Guia monogràfica de Sant Llorenç del Munt (1935) they do not even mention it, but the description they give of the Cova del Frare is just as we know it today. We have no further news until the explorations of the GES – CMB, who visit it for the first time in 1949 and it is included in the work they do on the cavities of the Canal de Can Pobla (1955).
