Cova del Falcó

Cova als cingles dels Motllats, Mont-ral.

Mont-ral • Alt Camp14m1m

Cave in the cingles dels Motllats, Mont-ral, known since long ago and speleologically unpublished, near the upper entrance of the cova de Mont-ral.

Characteristics

Location

From the centre of Mont-ral, we will head W, following the camí de la Foradada, passing through the serrat de l'Avenc. Once at la Foradada we will continue in the direction of the Portal de l'Abellera, we will pass through a rock tunnel and after about 250 metres from la Foradada we will climb up a rock slope in the direction of the base of the upper cingle where the lower entrance of the cova de Mont-ral and the cova del Codó are found. We will continue along the channel to the right of the cingle where, on the left wall as we go, we will find the upper entrance of the cova de Mont-ral about 2 metres from the ground and equipped with a chain to facilitate access. We will continue climbing a few metres to the foot of the wall where there is a “via ferrada” that climbs to the upper plateau; beside it we find the cova del Falcó.

In the small conduit at the end we find some lithogenic formations.

History

Cavity known since long ago in Mont-ral that is placed in the cingles dels Motllats above the Bosquet. Having found no other cave in this area we have assumed that it is the cova del Falcó. Speleologically unpublished cavity despite its proximity to the upper entrance of the cova de Mont-ral.
