Description

Morphology

The entrance is large and narrows within a few metres. The interior consists basically of a small chamber, at a crossing of joints, from which several small galleries of short length branch off; these are either blocked by concretion or become too narrow.

Speleothems

Of all the cavities in the group in the area, it is the only one that presents reconstructive forms of a certain importance, among which fairly large gours stand out, generally dry.

Progression

The survey by the ERE gives a passage of 18 metres and that of the GES increases it to 25 metres.

History

The oldest mention of this cave appears in the Archive of the Centre Excursionista de Terrassa (1935), where it is called Cova Ballber. It seems that this is the surname of a gentleman from Mura who, some years earlier, had accompanied members of the C E de Terrassa. Later, in the decade of the 1950s, it appears as Cova de l'Àngel or de Bellver (the latter seems to be the normalization of the surname Ballber). Since then, however, it has always been known as Cova de l'Àngel.
