Characteristics

Location

In the ravine that rises at the col between the Tossal Redó and the antennas at the very top of the Serra de Godall, in the Montsià. The antennas can be reached from Godall by the road that climbs towards Cap d'Asens and passes right by the spring.

From the road linking Godall and Ulldecona, at approximately km 6, there is a narrow entrance where the car can be left, very close to a sharp bend in the road enclosed by a fence. There a path is taken that climbs through the Racó del Forat and leads to the top of the Tossal Redó. It is necessary to go around it, because the ravine is found in a NE direction, on the opposite side from where we climbed up.

Description

Morphology

A wide rock shelter. On the upper overhang of the cave we find another, smaller one. In the absence of a known survey, we do not have the specific dimensions of the cavity.

Progression

It is possible to descend along the very bed of the ravine, watching out for the various drops, as far as the cave, but it is also possible to go and find one of the many shortcuts that the Mountainbikers of Godall have fixed up and which, also, coming from further N, will bring us to the cave.

Right below, a short detour is needed to find the descent that leads to d'en Panís.

Other details

In the past it had been used to pen livestock, as confirmed by the remains of the dry-stone wall that is still preserved.

History

Known since remote times. Cited by Bayerri in his Historia de Tortosa y su comarca (1934).
