Cau de la Torrota

Cau de la Torrota

Petit cau de tan sols 7 m. de recorregut vora la Torrota de l'Obac (Terrassa)

Terrassa • Vallès Occidental7m0

A small cave only 7 m long near the Torrota de l'Obac (Terrassa), formed by two short galleries excavated in a layer of reddish sandstones intercalated in the conglomerates.

Characteristics

Location

From the house of l'Obac, follow the path behind the house of the Pastora and take the path that skirts below the Alts de la Pepa. We will reach the hill of the Queixal, forming a small col from which the Torrota can be accessed from the east side by a worn and steep path that leads there in a couple of minutes. Just when we see the first vertical rock outcrops, we will head to the left below them and look for a hole at the foot of the cliff in a reddish layer quite overgrown with vegetation. We will find the entrance of the second hole further on, when the cliff turns towards the west, in a small rock shelter, also of reddish rock.

Description

Morphology

Formed by two short galleries that could connect, but the passage is impassable. The entrance of the first cave is 0.4 x 0.3 metres, just like a rabbit hole. A short gallery of 5 metres runs perpendicular to the cliff. At the end a light coming from the other entrance can be made out. This second opening gives onto a small passage 2 metres long by 0.7 metres high and wide.

Other details

The entire cavity is excavated in a layer of reddish sandstones intercalated in the conglomerates.

History

Cave known forever and about which a legend is told of a treasure that the Carlists hid there. The only data we know are those provided by Xavier Badiella, who surveyed it in September 2001.
