A small but spacious rock shelter in Esparreguera, opened in travertine, with a brick wall and tufa formations.

Location

We will enter the village of Esparreguera by the road that climbs from the Colònia Sedó, pass alongside the municipal sports area, and when we reach carrer de les Hortes we will turn left and continue to the end of the street. Here we will leave the car to go down some stairs that will lead us to the Hospital Vell de Esparreguera, and beside it we find the rock shelter.

Description

Morphology

The rock shelter, opened in travertine, has dimensions of 10 m in width by 10 m in depth and a maximum height of 8 m.

It has a wall, 1 m and a bit in height, built with bricks, covered with a thin layer of cement that forms a separation from the outside.

Speleothems

Inside there are localized formations of tufa.

Also, a beautiful fig tree.
