Avenc M-16

Avenc M-16

Esquerda de 15 metres de fondària a la serra d'en Clarà, Mont-ral.

Mont-ral • Alt Camp41m15m

A 15-metre-deep fissure in the serra d'en Clarà, Mont-ral, located in 2018 and explored in February 2019.

Characteristics

Location

Driving along the road from Alcover to Capafonts (TV 7041), before reaching Mont-ral and just a few metres before reaching Km. 10, an initially asphalted track branches off, crossing the Pla de les Perdius. We will always continue straight ahead, ignoring the forks, until the track ends in a widening of the track in the middle of the forest, on the ridge of the serra d'en Clarà. From this point and in a N direction a path leads us to the avenc del Cabirol; halfway along we find on the left a recently opened path (June 2018), we must follow it until reaching the cliff, where we find a passage that allows us to descend it; once down, we will continue to the right along a path that brings us closer to the cliff until reaching a point where the base of the cliff is a little elevated above the slope; we must climb this slope to reach the mouth, which opens 5 metres to the E of the avenc M-15, and 17 metres to the W of the entrance of cova de l'avenc de l'Escletxa (M-11).

Description

Morphology

Fissure 15 metres deep. From the mouth located at -4 metres, a short descending ramp places us in a 2-metre pit. The fissure continues descending in small steps while zigzagging. Reaching the end, the ceiling rises until it opens to the outside. Above the final conduit, we find a passage in the fissure that is quite narrow and could not be passed, but on the other side the fissure becomes wider and continues. This point is located just below the entrance of cova de l'avenc de l'Escletxa (M-11) but for the moment they do not connect. The current drop is 14.5 metres from the upper mouth.

Progression

The 2-metre pit can be descended without equipment.
