Small pit at the Racó del Teix, Mont-ral, with two superimposed entrances and a narrow faulted joint.

Characteristics

Location

From Mont-ral we will head W; once past the esplanade at the exit of the village we find a junction, we will leave the path that climbs to La Foradada and the Pla de l'Avenc, and continue along the path heading NW. After 75 metres, a path leaves from the left which we will follow, this one is occasionally marked with cairns and red dots. We will find a first fork where we continue to the right; a little further on we find a new fork (ETRS89- 340025 – 4572610), a small path on the left marked with red dots leads to the Teix Mil·lenari, we will continue along the path on the right for about 550 metres until reaching the coordinates (ERTS89- 339473 – 4572666). We will leave the path on the left and climb an old terrace, always keeping to the left we will find the cavity after 66 metres of walking.

Description

Morphology

The cavity has two superimposed entrances; access must be via the upper one as it is wider. Inside, a narrow faulted joint allows us to advance by opposition until we can stand on a ledge of blocks wedged in the walls that form a floor; the joint continues for about twenty metres until it becomes impenetrable.

Progression

Access must be via the upper entrance, which is wider. Inside, a narrow faulted joint allows us to advance by opposition until we can stand on a ledge of blocks wedged in the walls that form a floor; the joint continues for about twenty metres until it becomes impenetrable.

History

Cavity located by Juli Serrano and Montse Roca (SIE-CEA) in January 2020; it was revisited in July 2020 to carry out the cataloguing work.
