Description
Morphology
Entrance divided in two by a rock bridge. Through the larger one (1 x 0.5 m) one enters a short vertical conduit that soon connects with the one coming from the second, narrower entrance. After 5 metres we enter through the very middle of the ceiling of a circular chamber about 35 metres in diameter and between 10 and 14 metres in average height. The base of the pit is occupied by a large debris cone and quite a lot of rubbish from outside. From the base of the pit the floor slopes down in various directions; at one point in the chamber we find a mound of bat guano more than 2 metres high.
Speleothems
On the westernmost side and by means of a steep slope one can reach the lowest level of the cavity, where we find some parietal formations.
Other details
Pit made up of a single chamber of notable dimensions, in Ulldecona (el Montsià).
History
The first news we have of its exploration corresponds to members of the GES – CMB in November 1958, remaining unpublished. Around the decade of the 1970s it was visited and surveyed by members of the Grup Espeleològic d'Ulldecona, but we have no news that anything has ever been published regarding the cavity. The name given to the cavity is not very correct, since the area where it is located is known as the Pla de Bollaires; les Senioles lie further north. After several attempts to locate it by various groups, finally it is Agustí Barceló d'Ulldecona who, after some months of searching, locates it in June 2020 and provides us with the location, accompanying the Espeleoíndex team. Nevertheless, it is evident that more people know the location, since the spits that we find at the entrance are relatively recent.
Bio
Inside the cavity and during the visit carried out on 1-7-2020 the presence of an important colony of chiropterans has been confirmed.
