Avenc de la Fura

Avenc de 33 m. de fondària a la Serra de Godall.

Godall • Montsià45m33m

A 33 m deep pit in the Serra de Godall, explored in the early 1970s and surveyed in September 1980.

Characteristics

Location

From behind the cemetery of Godall, the so-called Camí de les Planetes passes by. Follow it in the direction of the rambla de Toll Roig, and shortly before reaching it, on the right of the path and in an area heavily overgrown with vegetation, the pit should be found.

Coordinates and location of low precision, taken from some notes by Josep M. Miñarro on a military map when, at Easter 1974, our companions from Ulldecona accompanied us to the pit. Obviously the landscape has changed notably and, with the passing of the years, memory also has its limitations.

We would be grateful if anyone could provide us with updated data.

Description

Morphology

At the bottom of a depression in the terrain, between blocks, the small mouth of the cavity opens, giving access to a narrow vertical conduit that at 4 metres leads into a joint partially occupied by blocks wedged in its walls and that descends 12 metres to a base occupied by blocks. At one end a 10-metre shaft begins, and at its bottom one can still descend through a very narrow vertical conduit of 4 metres where the lowest point of the pit is reached.

History

Explored in the early 1970s by members of the Grup Espeleològic d'Ulldecona. In September 1980 it was visited by the SIE – CEA, who made the survey, which had remained unpublished until now.
