Small pit 15 m deep at Puig de l'Astor (Garraf), with an entrance of 1 m, a 10 m shaft and a chamber of 10 by 3 m.

Location

To the S of Puig de l'Astor, in the flat area a few metres from the summit.

Access can be gained via the track (closed to vehicles) that leaves a few metres after km. 17 of the road from Begues to Olesa de Bonesvalls and which, after a long route, ends at Puig de la Mola. Shortly before reaching this summit, on the right is Puig de l'Astor.

It is also possible to go from the Can Grau track, heading towards the corral de l'Esquerrà, where a path (GR 92.3) also climbs up to Puig de Mola.

Although by a few metres, the pit is located in the municipality of Begues (Baix Llobregat) bordering that of Olesa de Bonesvalls (Alt Penedès).

Description

Morphology

A rounded entrance of just over 1 metre in diameter allows access to a shaft 10 metres deep, at the base of which we are situated in the upper part of a chamber about 10 metres long by about 3 wide and which, on a steep slope among blocks, brings us to the point of maximum depth.

Speleothems

The ceiling and a good part of the walls are covered by an important lithogenic process with evident signs of decalcification and which gives rise to a couple of small chambers accessory to the main one.
