Avenc de 32 metres de fondària a Vallirana, (Ordal).

Vallirana • Baix Llobregat39m32m

A 32-metre-deep pit in Vallirana (Ordal), located at the bottom of the Verdor.

Characteristics

Location

It is located at the bottom of the Verdor. Following the bottom of the Verdor from the avenc dels Esquirols along the hydrographic right bank, we will find the cavity approximately 300 metres from it and about 5 metres above the streambed, shortly before reaching the bottom of the Lledoner. On the ICC the nickname (Averdó) appears, in addition to placing it on the previous stream.

History

The pits known by Josep Cells, a woodcutter from Vallirana, in the area of l'Ordal, were the subject of sounding on 2 August 1908 by a team led by Marià Faura i Sans and accompanied by Cells himself. One of them is the one they called del Fondo de la Verdor and which remained pending exploration for the following weeks. But at that time a series of disagreements and a subsequent crisis arose within the Club Muntanyenc and the project fell into oblivion.

But as happened with the avenc de la Sal-de-llop (Avenc dels Esquirols), one of Faura's most assiduous companions at that time, Father Adeodat Marcet, decided on his own account to go that same summer to explore some of them and by letter (12/09/1908) he communicates to Faura the result, mentioning the avenc del Fondo de la Verdor, all while assigning it a depth of 35 metres and making a brief description of the cavity.

The following year, Faura in his Recull includes it although he calls it, erroneously, Avenc de l'Averdó, just as the ICC also does with the name of the bottom, a denomination that has reached our days.
