On the TV-2401 road from la Bisbal del Penedès to la Joncosa del Montmell, on reaching kilometre 6.125 we find a track on the right going downhill; we follow it for 150 metres; at this point and on the right we will find some cairns that, in 25 metres of steep descent, in the direction of the torrent, will lead us to the mouth of the cavity.

Description

Morphology

Formed by a single 17-metre pit, with another cavity of indeterminate height laterally, which can be accessed from different connection points with the main pit. At the base, on the S and W sides, there are two small pits, the deeper one reaching the -19 metre level.

Other details

The bottom of the pit is occupied by small-sized clastic products and occasionally by a certain amount of detritus from outside, especially decomposing animals.

History

Due to its proximity to the village of la Joncosa it has been known since remote times. At the end of July 1899, on finishing his excursion through the lands of the Priorat and the Baix Camp, Mn. N. Font i Sagué headed for Rodonyà, where Pau Teixidor was waiting for him to visit some cavities of the region. Among them, the avenc de la Roca Llisa, which he explored for the first time before a large attendance of people from la Joncosa. The little importance of the cavity means that he devotes only a few lines to it in his article about that excursion.

We have no further news of an exploration of the cavity until May 1956, when it was explored again by members of the GES – CMB, together with other cavities in the area.

We know that it has sporadically had occasional visits from different speleological groups, not many due to its little interest.

The only survey we know of is due to members of the SIE – CEA who carried it out in 1973.
