Avenc de la Palma

Avenc de la Palma

Ínfim pouet de 3 m. de fondària al Pla de Vinyals (Garraf)

Sitges • Garraf3m3m

Tiny 3 m deep pit at Pla de Vinyals (Garraf), discovered by GIE – CE de Gràcia in the early 1960s and rediscovered by GE de Badalona in April 2011.

Characteristics

Location

Going up the Castelldefels road (Rat Penat) to Plana Novella, at the point where you reach Pla de Vinyals (La Pleta), you must take the turnoff onto the old Garraf path. When you reach the cat and dog shelter (Canòpolis), continue straight on for about 50 metres alongside the metal fence of that facility. On the right we can see a small rise in the terrain with some visible limestone outcrops (elevation 332.8) at which, heading NW, we would reach the Avenc del Pi Gros. But well before that, about 50 metres from the path, in the very middle of the plain, we will find this tiny pit with a palmetto at its mouth.
