Location

Going up the road from Castelldefels (Rat Penat) to la Plana Novella, at the point where you reach el Pla de Vinyals (La Pleta), you must take the turn-off along the old Garraf path. When you reach the cat and dog shelter (Canòpolis), you must continue to the left and pass in front of the entrance gate of the enclosure; to the left of the track there is a fairly visible path that within a few metres brings us to the entrance of the Avenc de la Penya Ginesta. From here the path continues a little further but soon disappears; you must keep going in the direction of the ravine and about 40 metres further on we find the small entrance of the Avenc de l'Espígol.

Description

Morphology

A small circular entrance 0.45 metres in diameter. The maximum depth is 3.50 metres.

Progression

After descending a small pit of -1.70 metres you reach a small gallery which, after a drop of -0.70 metres and 2.30 metres, ends in a place with possibilities of continuation.

History

Discovered and explored by members of the SES – CE Puigmal (Barcelona) around the year 1959. It appears only in the cavity lists of the Editorial Alpina maps and was attributed a depth of 6 metres.
