Location

About 300 metres SE of the village of Tivissa, in the area known as the Racó de la Fotx, on the left bank and almost at the head of the barranc dels Molins.

Description

Morphology

Small pit 8 m deep. The point of maximum depth is at elevation -8.5.

Speleothems

A ramp of blocks climbs up with a flowstone.

Progression

Access is by a small 4 metre pit which, at its base, can be followed on one side to a chaos of blocks that plugs the gallery and, on the other, a slope full of stones leads to the point of maximum depth (elevation -8.5). From here the cavity rises a little by a ramp of blocks that then climbs up with a flowstone. Through a small hole it is still possible to continue about 6 metres more until it is closed.

History

The first news we have of this cavity is given by N. Llopis Lladó (CMB), who explored and surveyed it around 1934. The survey remained unpublished until it was published in the Catàleg Espeleològic de Catalunya. Vol. 7 (1984).

In May 1976 it was visited by members of the ERE-CEC.
