Location

About 10 metres above kilometre 2.500 of the road from Collbató to Monistrol (B-112). At the foot of the small channel that must be climbed there is a drainage pipe beneath the road, for when the cavity becomes active.

Description

Morphology

A narrow, slightly descending conduit that is minimally comfortable in its first metres. After that the section narrows noticeably and takes the form of a tube, turning sharply towards the North until reaching a point that is completely impassable, although the continuation of the conduit can be seen.

Hydrology

Temporary spring that in times of heavy rain discharges a significant flow of water, even coming to overflow the nearby road.

History

Known since time immemorial and mentioned in the great majority of works that deal with the cavities of Montserrat. The first study and survey is not carried out until the campaigns led by Llopis and Thomas during the period 1946-1950. They themselves propose the plural designation (Mentiroses) to distinguish it from the Mentirosa de Monistrol.
