Characteristics

Location

From Capafonts, we will follow the TV-7041 road towards Prades. At kilometre 25.36 we will turn left to follow the track that leads to els Motllats. On reaching the end of the climb we find a junction: on the left is the car park for going to el Picorandan; we will continue along the track on the right, where we find painted signs indicating “Dolina”. The track continues along the ridge of the Serrat de Voltora; after 450 metres we will park and head towards the W, descending the slope. After 50 metres we will find ourselves at the upper part of the great depression of lo Clotot. If we descend on the NE side (right), we will come across various penetrable crevices but with rather unstable blocks, and it is not advisable to enter them. If, on the other hand, we descend on the SW side (left), we will find another smaller depression, 22x13.5 metres, but only 3 metres deep.

Description

Morphology

It is a collapse doline. This forms a large almost circular depression (63x57 metres), it has a drop of 25 metres from the upper lip and 15 metres from the lower one; the drop between entrances is 10 metres.

Progression

It can be accessed from the upper lip by means of a scree slope that reaches the base; one simply has to be careful not to leave the scree slope, since on the sides there are ledges of a certain height. From the lower lip access is easier, although there is a lot of vegetation. The route indicated is by entering from the lower lip and exiting from the upper one.

History

Although it has been known since time immemorial, it had never been cited in speleological catalogues.
