Ancient fossilized multiple spring with a 73 m course in Granera, known since time immemorial and documented speleologically in 1957.

Characteristics

Location

Going along the road from Castellterçol to Granera, a few metres after passing kilometre 6 (without a marker in 2009) and shortly before reaching the pont d'en Marcet, on the left a wide path begins that climbs up the right slope of the torrent de les Tutes. About a hundred metres before the path crosses the stream and descends towards the old Marcet factory, in a clearing area a very overgrown path begins, but marked with stone cairns, which descends to the stream bed. Shortly before reaching it, another path branches off that in a few metres climbs up to the entrances of the cavity, located about 10 metres above the level of the stream.

Description

Morphology

The main entrance gives access to a large vestibule from which emerges a complicated reticulate of small galleries that are roughly orthogonal and that make up the cavity. A few metres from the entrance, in a S direction, there is a series of interconnected entrances that form another reticulate, much smaller, and if they connect with the main cavity they do so through impassable points. It is an ancient fossilized multiple spring excavated along NNE – SSO joints that cut through a package of Eocene conglomerates resting on the sandstones of the same period.

History

Cavity known since time immemorial by the people of the area. The first speleological visit that we have documented corresponds to the GES – CMB in August 1957. In January 1973 members of the SIE – CE Àliga make the survey and study of the cavity that gives rise to the first documentary citation.
