Characteristics

Location

Going along the Castellterçol to Granera road (BV-1245), after kilometre 7 there are two consecutive bends to the right (Revolt del Forat Negre); from the first of them, on the other side of the stream the mouth of the cavity should be visible, but the thick vegetation does not allow it. The best route is to follow the road until just before kilometre 8 and, on coming out of the bend to the right, from where the houses of Granera can already be seen, on the left of the road a track begins that in a couple of twists descends to the stream. Here you must continue to the left, following the course of the stream downstream along its left bank; further on there is a wide turn-off to the right, which crosses the stream by a cemented ford and continues towards the houses of Salvatges. A little further on another track also comes off which must likewise be left and you continue skirting the stream for a further hundred metres or so where a wide path descends to the riverbed. At this point there is a small retaining wall of the nearby can Marcet reservoir which makes crossing the stream easier. You must go up the right bank about 25 metres of gradient and, among holm oak woodland and brambles, it leads us in a straight line to the base of the nearby crag where the Forat Negre is found.

This route can also be done in the opposite direction from the old Marcet factory, but depending on the time of year we may find that the ford that crosses the reservoir is flooded.

Description

Morphology

The mouth forms a narrow fissure in the lower part that must be passed through for a couple of metres to reach the upper zone and entrance chamber. From here three galleries start: those in a N and S direction are narrow and short, but the one that penetrates towards the E is a little wider (40 cm), considerably higher (2 – 2.5 metres) and about 12 metres long; halfway along its course a new gallery opens, narrower and just over 5 metres long. At the end of the main gallery, which has been gaining a little height, it meets another perpendicularly. To the left it ends within a few metres and to the right it continues about 20 metres further until it becomes impassable due to narrowness, but halfway along its course a new fork to the N is still found that ends just over 5 metres from its start.

Hydrology

It is an old spring excavated in the Eocene conglomerates deposited on the sandstones of the same period. Formed at the expense of a small residual network of joints in orthogonal crossing (N-S; E-W).

History

Cavity known since time immemorial by the people of the area. The first speleological visit that we have documented corresponds to the GES – CMB in September 1964. From a “graffiti” in the entrance chamber we know that in 1966 people from the TiM de Sabadell were there and in June 1973 members of the SIE – CE Àliga make the survey and study of the cavity that gives rise to the first documentary citation.
