Horat Ff-1

Avenc de 41 m. de fondària a la Vall d'Aran

Vielha e Mijaran • Val d'Aran71m41m

A 41 m deep pit in the Vall d'Aran, discovered and explored by GIEG – AE de Granollers in 1988. It is accessed from the North mouth of the Vielha tunnel and has a first 27 m shaft.

Characteristics

Location

The most convenient access is via the track that begins about 500 metres to the left (access to the incinerator) once you have exited the North mouth of the Vielha tunnel. This track passes over the tunnel and shortly after passing the barranc del Port you must take the turnoff to the right that leads to the Cabana deth Pontet. Here the valley widens and a path climbs towards the barranc del Port, which must not be crossed, and you must continue upstream along the barranc de Font Freda (Hònt Hereda), from where the entrance of the Cova de la Font Freda is visible. Above the Font Freda spring and in a straight line in a S direction is the entrance of FF-1. Approximate coordinates.

Description

Morphology

In a doline open among pines that had to be cleared of blocks and trunks that were blocking it, you enter through a small entrance 0.60 x 0.50 metres that gives way to a first shaft 27 metres deep, formed by a joint oriented NW-SE. From its base and with more comfortable dimensions, the entrance of the second shaft of 6 metres opens. Next you can descend on a gentle slope to a narrow section and a new shaft, this one of 2.5 metres, where there is a small stream that drains through an impenetrable gallery at the lowest point of the cavity, at 40.9 metres depth.

Hydrology
