Location

NW of the summit of Pica Palomèra (2460 m). It can be accessed via the path that climbs from the Liat mines (GR-211) towards Sant Joan de Toran. About 100 metres S of the path and shortly before reaching the Còth de Güèrri.

Description

Morphology

A fine chimney about ten metres high. Entrance mouth that leads into a chamber located beneath the chimney, then a small gallery, a crawl and a lower chamber obstructed by large blocks.

History

Discovered and explored by members of the speleology section of the AJSC (la Courneuve, FR) on 25 August 1972. There had never been any news of the activities of this French group, carried out on both sides of the border during the summers of 1971 and 1972, until last 13 October 2018 (after coinciding in the area, in the summer of 2018, with a Franco-Belgian group carrying out a campaign) when colleagues Josep Guarro and Joan Carles Juderías located the cavity and were able to identify it since the painting with the initials and the number is still preserved at the entrance (after 46 years !!). Josep was able to locate a member of that group and gave him a copy of the report of their activities, which he has kindly ceded to us so that we can include some unpublished cavities of the Liat area in Espeleoíndex.
