Description
Morphology
Also called by its explorers “la Grande Crevasse” (the Great Crevasse). An elongated opening allows access, by means of a lateral step between blocks (cleared between the rock and a plug of ice), to a descending gallery about 30 metres long that ends in a small lateral shaft between blocks (the point of maximum depth). The main fissure continues ahead in the same direction, but ascending and with the floor full of blocks. In the final stretch, and after about 60 metres of passage, it narrows until it becomes impassable.
Progression
Unsuccessful attempt at clearing.
History
Discovered and explored by members of the speleology section of the AJSC (La Courneuve, FR) on 25 August 1972. Nothing had ever been known of the activities of this French group, carried out on both sides of the border during the summers of 1971 and 1972, until last 13 October 2018 (after coinciding in the area, in the summer of 2018, with a Franco-Belgian group carrying out a campaign) when our colleagues Josep Guarro and Joan Carles Juderías made a tour of the area. Josep was able to locate a member of that group and gave him a copy of the report of their activities, which he has kindly ceded to us so that we could include in Espeleoíndex some unpublished cavities of the Liat area. Only three of them appear to be of any interest and accompany the survey; the rest are very small and some practically impenetrable.
