Vielha e Mijaran • Val d'Aran 14m 8m

Small pit 8 m deep in the Liat area, in the Vall d'Aran, located on a fault line with dolines.

Characteristics

Location

It is found in the Liat area, in the Vall d'Aran, on the fault line that climbs from the Horat der Unhòla to the coll de l'estany de Liat. Of the many dolines existing while ascending this line, this is the first where a pit is located. The coordinates are approximate, without any reliability, and the location is of little precision.

Description

Morphology

Small pit 8 m deep. It begins with a vertical funnel 4 metres in drop, followed by a small shaft of 4 metres more.

Hydrology

In the small shaft, in summer, snow tends to be preserved.

History

Described by members of the SIS – CE Terrassa in their work on the area in the summer of 1990. It is probably one of the cavities marked with the letter T (T6 to T15), but it has not been possible to determine which one it is. For the time being, it has been decided not to catalogue a good part of these cavities, since based on the available data their location is very doubtful and the great majority of them were never explored.
