Characteristics

Location

Going along the path that leads to the estany de Liat and shortly before reaching the large Horat der Unhòla, on the right you can observe a whole series of dolines, among which one stands out in the shape of a figure eight (Dolina Bessona) and another slightly further to the right of the previous one (Dolina Petita). At the N end of the latter is the cavity.

Access can be gained from the village of Bagergue via a track that, depending on its condition and the vehicle, will take us as far as Liat.

Description

Morphology

At the N end of the doline, above the absorption point where a small stream that crosses the doline seeps away, there is a narrow joint that leads, after a few drops, to a gallery oriented N-S. This gallery, of larger dimensions than the upper part of the cavity, ends at the N in a chaos of blocks, while the S end allows access to large galleries that end either in narrow passages, in obstructions or in lateral galleries that finish in chambers with no possible continuations.

Hydrology

A small stream crosses the doline and seeps away at an absorption point above which the access joint is found.

History

Discovered by Bernard Magos in the summer of 1972 and it was one of the objectives of the Franco-Belgian expedition of August 1973, when they made the first exploration. They named it Gouffre T1 or Trou du Pèlerin.

On 28 August 1978, within a new campaign in the area, this time by the Groupe Spéléologique des Pyrénées (Tolosa de Llenguadoc), they visit it again and produce a new survey, a little (not much) more accurate than the one made by the first explorers. This one they named Gouffre de la Petite Doline.

In the summer of 1990 it is also visited by colleagues from the SIS – CE Terrassa during the course of their first campaign at the Uelh deth Tur.
