Description
Morphology
Forat la Bou is 156 m long. The entrance, 3 m high and 6 m wide, gives way to the main gallery which for some 90 m presents sections that are easy to negotiate. At the end of the gallery, a narrow passage ascending gives access to an upper chamber; at one end of it there is a step that leads to a lower gallery just over 20 m long.
Speleothems
Halfway along the route there is an area made up of gours and with abundant concretion.
Progression
The main gallery presents, for some 90 m, sections that are easy to negotiate. At the end of the gallery, a narrow passage ascending gives access to an upper chamber; at one end of it, a step leads to a lower gallery just over 20 m long.
History
On 27 August 1910, Racovitza, Jeannel, Faura and Rocafort arrive at Serradell. They visit: Forat Negre and Forat La Bou. They cite by reference, but it does not appear that they visited them: Espluga de Sorta, l'Espluguell, l'Esplugallonga and el Barbuixell. The following day, 28 August, they visit the cova de Toralla.
Thomas Casajuana, in his, and possibly last, speleological writing (2000), makes a brief reference to a campaign by members of the Club Muntanyenc Barcelonès (Llopis, Thomas and others) carried out in the Serradell area in 1946 and which had remained practically unpublished. Among the cavities explored and drawn, he mentions Forat La Bou, without providing any data.
On 19 and 20 March 1960 it is visited by the ERE of the CE Catalunya, carrying out the survey that was published in the magazine Montaña no. 60.
