A 15-metre-deep pit in Camprodon, with a single descending gallery 28 metres long, full of boulders.

Characteristics

Location

By the C-38 road from Sant Joan de les Abadesses to Camprodon, at kilometre 8 and level with the Estebanell colony, we will take the Cavallera path to the W; once past it and before reaching the Pomer farmhouse, at the crossroads we will continue to the left to head for the Cànova and Cal Noi.

The cavity opens at the bottom of a small stream, on a flat area situated some 200 metres above Cal Noi, easily locatable from the houses by a large cairn, some 20 metres to the W of which we find the mouth of the cavity.

Description

Morphology

The entrance is about 3X2 metres and 1 metre deep. On its W side it gives way to a small almost vertical drop of 3 metres, followed by a ramp that leads into the only gallery of the cavity, also descending and about 28 metres long, completely filled by an imposing chaos of boulders.

The entrance gives way on its W side to a small almost vertical drop of 3 metres, followed by a ramp that leads into the only gallery of the cavity.

History

The only known data are those of the exploration carried out by B. Grañena and A. Santafè (GES-CMB) in 1979. At the mouth of the cavity an old painted marking is still preserved which we suppose to be later than the previous exploration; this painted marking is from the ERE of the AEC, where they mark it as avenc d'en Carles.
