Description
Morphology
The cavity consists of a main gallery developed along an intersection of joints with a direction of N40E and N30E, the maximum development of the gallery being found at the point where they meet. Three small galleries of 2 m, 2.50 m and 5 m respectively, the first two located at ground level, and the last at a height of 2.50 metres; all of them, however, are blocked by sediments.
Other details
Currently (2013) the cave is inside an enclosure with goats and ponies, the floor of the cave being full of excrement.
History
This cavity was known to the people of the area. On 17 January 1971, the Grup Espeleològic Pedraforca located it and returned again on 18 April of the same year to carry out the survey.
Fifty-three years later, Josep Pujadas, a hiking enthusiast, informs us that the cavity is known as Cova de la Rendilla and attaches a link to a 1999 monograph on Llanars where it is mentioned under this name. We have also verified that in the Inventari Arqueològic de Catalunya it is recorded as Cova de la Rendilla and that, long after the visit by the members of the GE Pedraforca, towards the end of the 1980s, a summer visitor from Barcelona carried out a clandestine excavation in which a skeleton and other pieces that appear to correspond to the Bronze Age appeared. Following the archaeologists' work it appears catalogued under this other name.
Our colleagues from the GE Pedraforca assure us that when they went in 1971 nobody from the village made any reference to them with this denomination.
